Hi, Like Rose, I keep reading all the posts hoping maybe someone will be looking for my family. Our earliest DALTON is MATTHEW, born circa 1750. Tradition has it that the family came to Newfoundland,Canada from County Cork. It seems that Matthew may have been a "By boat Fisherman", ( seasonal fisherman who rented fishing rooms and hired local labour ) who came to Newfoundland on ships from the Poole/ Dorset area in England, on a seasonal basis before actually settling here. He may have married a lady from England. Either that or is mother may have been from there. In Nl, he moved from Broad Cove, Conception Bay to Western Bay and eventually to Little Catalina, in Trinity Bay, where I grew up. The names Philip / George / Thomas/ James and John are prominent. Would appreciate any help or direction. Velma Dalton Boudreau > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Chambers Family in County Cork (Roselma Roberts) > 2. Re: Chambers Family in County Cork (Bill Fahy) > 3.
