HI I am new to this list and I am hoping that someone out there is also researching this particular family. I wish I had more information and apologize for the lack of it but even so this is what I do have. Rose Doherty born 1835 in Ireland, died in Nottingham England in 1910. She married Edwin Picken on the 5th Sept.1858 in Wellington, Salop, Shropshire, England. They had 6 children, John 1858, Edward 1860, Sarah Ann 1863, Edward 1867, Thomas 1876. Alfred 1878 The children were all born in Wellington, Shropshire, apart from Alfred who was born in Nottingham. I know that Rose's father was Thomas Doherty who was born in Ireland, but sadly I do not know the county Does anyone know anything about this family. Regards June
Hi June, You have just contacted the best Rootsweb Irish County site, only problem you will be leaving us to join the Sligo county site. Your illusive little Rose stated in most census returns that she was born in Ireland, in the 1901 census she stated that she was born in Wellington, Shropshire, but in the 1861 return she stated Sligo, Ireland, her husband was Edward and I also get the feeling that some more of her family may have been floating around Shropshire and maybe married to a Picken.
