    3. Hi I am interested in the name Hobart. The late Dr Ted Hobart lived near me. He died sometime in the 1990's. I think he was aged over 90. He was a widower without children. He was the 4th generation of medical men, that I know of, in his family in Cork. The medical line goes back to the 1820's. I have a miniature painting of Dr Sam Hobart dating from about 1830. Ted's mother was Edith Guest Lane. She was a first cousin of Sir Hugh Lane, the famous art collector etc who went down on the Lusitania in 1915. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Judith Sent: 12 March 2009 03:44 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Parish Records for Cork Hi Jenny, This record is actually for John Jackson, to whom I was replying. I'm sure he will read it on this list anway. Just for the record, I too have purchased a record from this source, for John Richard Blake's marriage (to Alice.) Under Alice's father's name was typed "Hobart." I knew this was incorret because Alice Thornhill and Dr. Richard Hobart were my gt.gt. grandparents.....and so of course Alice was a widow when she married John Richard Blake. I then purchased a copy of the actual marriage certificate from the G.R.O which gave the correct information - John Richard Blake m. Alice Hobart, widow. I think if it is possible, then it's best to have the original certificate. I'm not knocking the IFHF because it's a great site, but If I hadn't already known the facts I may have followed the wrong person for years, or forever! Thanks, Judie. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jenny Martin" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 12, 2009 12:40 PM Subject: Parish Records for Cork Hi Judy, You will have to spend €5 euros but look what is on this site after putting STEFF only into search engine. 3. Hi Jack Please feel free to write to me at [email protected] if you require Hobart info. Dr. Edward Guest Hobart, Ted, and my mother, his 2nd cousin, corresponded for many, many years and I still have some of his letters. Mum visited him at Blackrock on her only trip to Ireland, in 1976. My gt.gt grandfather Dr. Richard Hobart was Dr. Samuel Hobart's brother. Sam had rooms at South Mall and Richard worked at and out of Kilfinane. Cheers, Judie, Victoria, Aust. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack Crowley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 3:33 AM Subject: RE: Parish Records for Cork > Hi > I am interested in the name Hobart. > The late Dr Ted Hobart lived near me.
