Many thanks for all information regarding research into Earl of Bandon's papers. I did not realise that the Dukes of Devonshire's estates went out that far, and the online indexes make fascinating reading, but they do not, in this case, apply. Also, whilst the Bandon Genealogical web-site is wonderful, my area just happens to fall a smidgeon outside it's area - I think that it's called Sod's Law......... But I definitely think that I will be checking out what the Cork Archives can offer. Again thank you to everyone for all your advice and help, Mary
