I'm searching the DALY surname (various spellings) of County Cork. I have only family memories from severlal cousins who believe we came from Cork. John (1795-1843) and James (1800/09-1843) DALY are in Grafton, Lorain, Ohio by 1833, where James buys land. They live and die in Ohiowithin months of each other in 1843. James and John both married in Ohio to women born in NY or CT. My GrGf, Lawrence DALY (1807-1905) is in Ohio by 1845, where he marries James' widow. The birthdates suggest these 3 were brothers. The 1900 Census says that he came to the US in 1830, but I can't find him on a Census, unless he is the single Lawrence DAILY who appears in the Illinois 1840 Census. Can't find any proof of this, other than we had a connection to Illinois for many years. A grand-uncle, Timothy Aloysius DALY was a physician on Halstead St. until his death in the 1930s. In 1863, Lawrence marries Mary Anne EGAN, who came from Ireland in 1851. She lived in Joliet, IL prior to marrying Lawrence, and had a brother John. Their father's name was Pat, mother's name unknown. She was not from Cork as far as we know. In 1860, a Michael DALY (ca. 1832-1900) comes to the US, and is in Ohio by 1863. In 1870 Census, he lives on land owned by Lawrence. He marries Catherine O'Rourke in 1861, somewhere within the US before arriving in OH. It's unclear as to Michael's relationship to my Lawrence. He may have been a nephew, or a half-brother. Regards, Trish
