    3. Hi Helen, I also have a Mary Ann FITZGERALDborn about 1835 in my family tree. Cannot find her birth in Ireland at present but she married Thomas HOOLEY b.1835 in Swansea Wales and they lived in Cardiff all of their lives and had 12 children. She died in 1908. Now when vsiting the LDS Library in Townsville Nth Qld recently, a lady there told me of a mixup with a Mary FITZGERALD name. She was also transported to Australia but her name was shown as Williams. This lady got the proof after looking at the convict transport papers, where she found that her real name was Fitzgerald but changed to WILLIAMS . I see by your letter that the girls went with their mother, so possibly not my family. My MaryAnn was with her father, Timothy FITZGERALD, a widower, who was born in 1784. Now I have always been puzzled about his age with this little girl, he was 51 when she was born. I have no history of Tims other family or wife in Ireland and only know by his death certificate in 1872 in Swansea Wales that his fathers name was Redmond FITZGERALD. I have found a Redmond Fitzgerald who was married in Mallow Cork in 1771 to Ann LARKIN but have not found any children as yet. Will have to keep searchig on this. Would you like me to phone this lady in Townsville and give her your email address? Might be the same one you are looking for.
