    1. Re: Old Parish Records in Cork
    2. My experience may be a fluke, but--look at info posted with different first names. I found a marriage record for Patrick Nash of Grillagh in Cork and Johanna Dwyer on Nov 26, 1836 (my Patrick Nash married Margaret Dwyer). Then, I found the baptism of Catherine Nash, daughter of Patrick Nash of Grillagh and Margaret Dwyer on Dec 12, 1836, with a notation that she was born in wedlock but just barely. And in the same parish, a baptism for John Patrick Nash June 1, 1838, son of Patrick Nash and Margaret Dwyer, John Patrick was born May 20, 1838 and came to the US with his parents in 1845. Had it not been for the baptism of Catherine I would never have thought that Patrick and Johanna were my ancestors! So look at people have the right surname but a different first name. My GrGf was born in Cork ca. 1807-1815, with brothers born in 1795 and 1800-1809. I have yet to find a church record for any of them. There are some Cork records from the 1700's on the site, but there's never been a "hit" to my relatives. I'm still waiting for the western and southern Cork records to post. In the meantime, I try not to drive myself crazy over these early records...chances are they disintegrated from being handled/moved around.
