<<Patricia, Where did your Daly's settle in the US?  Have you come across any other spellings?  Helen>>   Helen,   We'v had at least 3 spellings: my DALYs (John, James and Laurence) settled in Grafton, Lorain, Ohio, and Pittsfield, Lorain, OH.  They bought land here in 1833.  They were farmers.  This line had the name spelled every wich way on the early Censuses, but we've used DALY since 1900.   In 1859,  a Michael DA-ILY, immigrated and lived on land owned by Lawrence in LaGrange, Lorain OH.  HIs name was spelled this way on Censuses, and he carried it through on death certificates, etc.  I'm not sure how he's related.  One of Michael's son, John Edward (1864-1930), said that he did not like his name spelled like the daily newspaper, so he spelled the name DA-ILEY.   We've mostly stayed in OH, but also migrated to Michigan,  Missouri, Illinois, and Washington state and Texas.   Trish
