    3. Hi Theresa, Thanks very much for all your effort & time,it does seem as if the birth of Margaret is the same as what i have. I am now wondering if Arthur & Margaret did marry or if they did it might of been in another part of Ireland? Problem with Arthur he was a bit of a fibber & used his sisters date of birth to enter the navy,so perhaps he never married Margaret or married he in another country,it wasn't England or Wales for sure as i have searched everywhere. In 1901 Arthur was on ship i think off Gibraltar,he did state he was married, however, after Margaret died in Cardiff he re-married & they were married in St Patrick's church Penarth Wales & on the details i got from the church they said it was a mixed religion marriage & special dispensation was granted,i don't know if it was for Arthur or his 2nd wife,if it was for Arthur then would Margaret & Arthur married in a protestant Church in Ireland? Thanks, Kaz. ----- Original Message ----- From: <tesmith40@comcast.net> To: <irl-cork@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2010 2:56 PM Subject: Re: Marriage search help please > > > Kaz, > > > > Forgot to mention I did a search looking for birth registration for > Margaret Hayes born about 1875 (1901 census shows her to be 26). 2. Beth, Here's the website I used to help Kaz, LDS Familysearch  http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home I did a search for a marriage of Denis Canavan to a Bridget in Cork, Ireland got 0 results. I did a search for a birth / baptism of a David Canavan born about 1824 the son of Denis Canavan & Bridget and got 0 results. I did a search for a Denis Canavan son of Denis Canavan & I got 3 results all for the same person for 11 May 1868.  The mother is listed as a Mary Anne Murphy.  Could this be the Denis Canavan brother to David? Sorry didn't find anything better.  Good luck in your search. 2. Kaz, Forgot to mention I did a search looking for birth registration for Margaret Hayes born about 1875 (1901 census shows her to be 26).  There are 5 results for 1874 in Cork, Ireland;  2 for 1875; 1 for 1876.  Some results list parents names and  some do not. When I refined the search (used an advanced search) and entered the father as Daniel Hayes, I got 2 results; 1 for 10 April 1873 and 1 for 30 April 1864.  But the mothers's name were not Bridget MaGill. I then entered the mother's name as Bridget MaGill and got 2 good results. 2. Kaz, Did you try a search on the LDS Familysearch Record Search?  http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home   When I entered Arthur Hanny I got a return of 0 results.    When I did a search for Margaret H ayes  in Cork, Ireland, I got 140 matches as a result.  I did not put in a year with the first search since you gave such a span of time.  Then I went back and refined the search. No results for years 1890 to 1893.    F irst results start in 1894 with 3; 1 result for 1895; 1 for 1896; 3 for 1897; 0 for 1898; 0 for 1899.  With all of these the husband's name was not listed on the page.  I hope this might help in some small way. I did find the birth registration for Cecily Margaret Hanny.   Name: Cecily Margaret Hanny Registration District: Cork Event Type: BIRTHS Registration Quarter and Year: Jan - Mar 1900 Estimated Birth Year: Age (at Death): Mother's Maiden Name: Film Number: 101068 Volume Number: 5 Page Number: 137 Digital Folder Number: 4193982 Image Number: 00037 Collection: null Best of luck in your search. Is there anyone on the list who knows where I could find >subscribers to the O'Connell Tribute in Cork and in Limerick? Thank you, An annual subscription, also known as the Repeal Fund, the O'Connell Trubte totals for each parish were published in the local press in the early months of the year. This was to pay for Daniel O'Connell's movement to repeal the Act Of Union with Great Britain, which in 1801 dissolved the Irish Parliament in Dublin, forcing Members of Parliament to attend sessions at Westminster. Some parishes collected one penny per month from each member, resulting in a shilling donation at the end of the year. Those who could give more, did, and everyone's name, and in some case their townland, was printed up. My great-great-grandfather, John Ahern, was the Repeal Tresurer for the parish of Mallow. There were also lists of subscribers in America published in U.S. papers such as The Pilot and the New York Irish-American. http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1844/JAN.html#24 http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1844/FEB.html#5 http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1846/JAN.html#23 http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1846/FEB.html#4 http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1846/MAR.html#4 http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cork/1841/SEP.html#6 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dennis Ahern | Ireland Newspaper Abstracts Acton, Massachusetts | http://www.IrelandOldNews.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
