    1. Patrick J. O'Connell and Mary Donegan
    2. So, I'm looking for a marriage record of Patrick J. O'Connell and Mary Donegan between, say, 1835 and 1861 John, you might try searching for the death record after 1864 un Cork for this couple. LDS has index films of deaths and then you can rent the film with the death record from them to see if it might be yours. Regards, Candi in California

    1. looking for Patrick J. O'Connell and Mary Donegan marriage
    2. Hi, I recently obtained a copy of the death record of my great grandfather, Patrick J. O'Connell who died in Newark, NJ in 1929. Patrick's Father was also Patrick J. O'Connell and his mother was Mary Donegan. Patrick, the younger, was born between 1853 and 1861, most likely 1856. So, I'm looking for a marriage record of Patrick J. O'Connell and Mary Donegan between, say, 1835 and 1861. Family lore has it that this family was from Cork, I don't know if that's the city or the county. Family stories also claim that there's a distant connection to Daniel O'Connell, the Liberator. My great grandfather emigrated to the USA about 1864. He married Frederica Spring, from Limerick, in Jersey City, New Jersey in the early 1880's and raised a family in Newark. I've loaded a gedcom file concerning this family onto RootsWeb's WorldConnect. It's name is oconldunl and can be found at _http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=oconldunl&I11.x=43&I11.y=3_ (http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=oconldunl&I11.x=43&I11.y=3) . Thanks, John F

    1. Reardon/Rearden and McCarthy from Cork
    2. Hello, I have come across ship passenger records for a ship, the Jane Anderson that sailed from Ireland to the US. It arrived on July 3, 1848, in New York. The steerage passengers included: Peter McCarthy, age 30, from Cork Mary McCarthy, age 18, spinster from Cork Catharine Rearden, age 19, spinster from Cork Hanora Rearden, age 18 spinster from Cork Timothy Rearden, age 17 from Cork Thomas Rearden, age 14 from Cork My Catharine Reardon/Rearden, daughter of Margaret and Denis from Co. Cork, was married to Charles Peter McCarthy, Charles Peter went by Peter. They lived in Cincinnati OH. On the 1880 US Census. A few doors down the street from the McCarthys, a Timothy Reardon lived, and next door to Tim was Patrick. Patrick had his mother-in-law living with him...Margaret! I believe that the McCarthys and Reardens on the Jane Anderson, are my people. It looks like Peter and Catharine met on the ship to the US. I am not sure, but I think they came from around Kanturk and Boherbue Cork. Does anyone have any other info on these people? Susan Marshall

They had 3 known children: 1-Julia,b. 5 Jul 1851 2-Anna(Bridget), b. 3 Jul 1854; 3-Jonny, b. abt. 1855 - Family tradition says born in County Cork. They arrived in New York City on 21 Jun 1855 aboard the ship "Richard Robinson". #2 child, "Bridget", is listed with this given name on the ship list and in 1860 Rock Co.,WI Census, but listed as "Anna", but several other census records list her as Anna. 1. Peter and Thomas Hunter
    2. Maryanne Bach
    3. Hi all, I am new to the list and researching Peter HUNTER born abt 1808 Downpatrick. Peter was the son of Thomas HUNTER who was High Sheriff in Dublin. Sometime around 1825 or maybe a few years later Peter HUNTER, who was a policeman in Cork, married Jane BROWN who run a house of ill repute. The story goes that Jane was the mistress of Capt TOWNSEND, who lived near the City of Cork, and continued to be so during her marriage to Peter HUNTER. She supposedly sold her daughter and another girl to sea captains for vile purposes. Jane was charged with this crime and died in the Dublin jail. The story is suppose to have been in the paper. Would SKS know if I can do lookups in the paper? The story should have been printed in the late 1830's or early 1840's, if I have worked it out correctly. Also is there any way I could look up this Capt Townsend. In 1836 or 1837 Peter Hunter went to Kanturk Co Cork where he was a clerk for the Coach Company he then married Jane Connor and had a daughter in 1839. TIA Maryanne South Australia

    3. It would be worth searching the 1901 & 1911 censuses. It is fairly labor-intensive, but the Irish censuses contained much useful information. They are available through the LDS Family History Centers.
