    1. Re: Mallow records
    2. Patricia O'Shea
    3. Hi again Helen - I see that Mallow has the records of one of the parishes mentioned in the Griffiths (Castletownroache from 1811) but does not seem to mention Ballyhooley, although this might come under Fermoy. Ballyhooley is not mentioned in Grenham's list of available Cork East RC records and Fermoy begins around 1827, which is rather unhelpful for you. It just might be worth the cost of getting Mallow HC to check for the births given that you know the parents? Sorry this is not more helpful - another clue would certainly be useful for you. Best wishes, Patsy - New Zealand Subject: Re: Mallow records >I think I need to do more research. I wanted a Baptism on one of the girls > or a marriage record. 1. Re: naturalizations
    2. On the subject of naturalizations - children under 18 years naturalized automatically when their father naturalized. Men who stated that they came here prior to age 18 did not have file "first papers". Woman born in the US would lose their citizenship if they married an immigrant and regain it when he naturalized! 3. Thanks Patsy and John, The areas you both mentioned were my target areas because of Griffiths. I've been afraid to have the research done because I didn't find 2 corresponding years when I did a marriage search on David and Johanna. I guess the only way I'll know for sure is to have the research done. I also have a shot with the births of the 2 daughters if the marriage isn't found. Thanks for the help and data. 2. The 1930 census does have errors regarding Irish ancestry. It says my great-grandfather's parents came from Northern Ireland, but one was from County Cork, the other from County Clare. 2. Thank you all, you learn something new everyday !! I think this is interesting, one of my grandaunts naturalised, she was a female over 21 152. The question of naturalization (column 18) applies only to foreign-born males 21 years of age and over. It does not apply to foreign-born minors, to foreign-born females, or to any person, male or female, who was born in the United States, either of native or foreign parentage. 1. Reading the US census
    2. Talking about census records, on the US census under naturalisation you sometimes see NA, sometimes AL, does this mean naturalised and in the second case alien citizenship. Are there any records for alien citizenship. 3. This might not help but my great great grandfather, William Myers, married Catherine Dempsey in Castletownroche Parish, County Cork 31 January 1818. The witnesses were Cornelius Dempsey and Patrick Dempsey. This marriage is listed on page 169 of the Castletownroche and Ballyhooly Marriage Records, also available from Mallow. Their first child was Jeremiah (Darby) Myers, baptized 16 October 1818 in Castletownroche Parish. The sponsors were Jn. Keeffe and Nel Lynes. They had three other Children born in Kildorrery Parish, William's home Parish. Their Townland is listed as 'Crofana' which I can't identify. Jeremiah/Darby fathered an illegitimate son with Mary Sullivan in Kildorrery Parish in 1845. I hate to have Mallow do a full blown search if it is the same data. I have very little information on them and did not want to use Eneclann until I can dig up a little more data. 3. Is your Aunt married? If she was she would have been naturalized pre 1922 if her husband was naturalized. That event happened on one of mine -- she said she was naturalized by way of her husband. Women did not get to do their own naturalizations until after 1922 -- the right to vote occurred in 1920. Calls to mind the expression -- you've come a long way baby!! Hard to believe less than 100 years ago women in the US couldn't vote. Helen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathleen B.
