G'day to all, I am researching the possibility that my ancestor may have been born in County Donegal before turning up in Scotland in the 1850s. Samuel ROSS had two children that came to New Zealand in the late 1860s Agnes born circa 1847 possibly at Lossiemouth Scotland, and Andrew ROSS born circa 1841. Andrew had also been a Coastguardsman or a member of the Royal Navy and collected a pension of £13 -12 shillings per annum, which was transferred to New Zealand and paid at Hokitika,Westland, quarterly. I am interested in hearing from anybody who has searched Coastguard records. Regards Peter, in Timaru, South Island, New Zealand
