Thanks to the other Canadian Bob, we have determined that my Jane Elliott is not John's. The father I am looking for is James Elliott, mother Nancy/Ann Clark. My Jane born Donegal 1835, any suggestion out there how to proceed ? She had a sister Margaret born 1829, brother Stephen born 1833. John, for your information, the town of Simcoe Ontario was in Norfolk County, not Simcoe County; small point, but about 100 miles apart. Now known as Haldiman-Norfolk County, on the way from Toronto to Detroit.
