    3. The URL http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bhilchey/MTemplecarn.html indicates the location of Templecarn where Church records began Roman Catholic Pettigo Parish 1836 Church of Ireland Templecarn Parish 1825 Presbyterian Pettigo Parish 1844 Provided they were not Presbyterian some of the children's baptisms should be recorded. The FHS near you should have access to these records. You could also look up the sponsors names (presuming they stayed behind) in the Griffiths valuation 1857. See the URL http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/pettigo.htm where Dennis Gallagher is recorded as having two properties in Pettigo in 1857. Did he take one over from Frank in 1841 when Frank left for Oz.? You could also try the on-line version of Griffiths - The 1847-1864 Griffiths valuation has now appeared online in a searchable format at the URL www.otherdays.com. This has opened the field up a lot to a structured computer based search strategy using Civil and RC Parish maps on URL http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/sitemap.htm, modern OS maps available on http://.uk2multimap.com and the old Griffith's Valuation maps available from the www.otherdays.com site. It is possible to use the Otherdays Griffiths for 72 hours on payment of an $8 fee and carry out a search for a person without prior knowledge of the townland, Parish or Barony - just the County. It is also possible to specify a search using variations of the persons name. Enter Burns and a search will be carried out for Burn, Byrne and Burns. The details of the two Gallagher properties could be interesting Liam "A bird in the bush is worth two in the Cat" ----- Original Message ----- From: "christene hartley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2003 12:42 PM Subject: Re: [DONEGAL] Gallagher > Hi > I have Gallagher from Donegal in my line > Frank and Mary had a dau Eliza who was > 45 when she came to oz in 1841 with husband > Charles McGrath she was from Donegal he Tyrone > they had 3 children that I aware of Bernard of Pettig > and 2 girls Ellen and Eleanor bn > Templecarane they were in their teens at time f arrival > Christene > > > > ==== IRL-CO-DONEGAL Mailing List ==== > This list is for anyone researching ancestors in County Donegal Ireland.
