Hi Betsy! The names in brackets are what they had to add to their names to differentiate all the Edwards and Patricks etc.............for instance, Edward Boyce (Michael) is probably Edward, son of Michael, and Patrick Boyce (Peter) is Patrick son of Peter............sometimes instead of father or mothers names, they would use names for where the person lived or the colour of his hair etc - for instance, Biddy Rua Sweeney was the Biddy Sweeney who had red hair! Its funny you should be posting about Boyce and Tullagh - I'm typing up some baptism pages sent to me by Janice and these have Boyce women in Tullagh - I'm only on the first page though, so there may be more.
