Hi, I am writing from Australia, and I am trying to research the following people. Manus McFadden married Mary Shields 09.04.1882 at Carrigart, Donegal, Ireland They had three children in Ireland, Manus (b1883), Sophia (b 1885), and Andrew (b 1887) then the moved to Glasgow, Scotland where they had 4 more children and Mary died shortly after the last child. Mary's parents are Charles Shields and Sophia McFadden and they were farmers and they had deceased by 1900. What I would love to know about these people are any birth details, Charles and Sophia birth, marriage and death details. And the big one is where they are buried, like what cemetery?? Do you have any good internet site of cemeteries?? Australia is getting quiet a few now, but our history is so so young compared to England, Ireland, Scotland, well your side of the world. The reason I would love to know the cemetery is because Grandmother (she is in her 80's) wants to return and visit the place of her descendants, and I'm trying to make it happen, but having a little bit of trouble from this side of the world. Irish records are hard to find after about 1854. If anyone can help I would be very appreciated, and if there is a living member of the family, I would love to hear from then. My thoughts are Mary's brother and sister probably still live in the area, or Ireland, well I hope so. Kinds regards Tracey >From Australia

Hi there Noticed you have Doohan and Ferry. We are researching these names. We have Patrick Ferry born 1833 in Crossroads, Donegal married to Sarah or Sally Doohan. Children were Ann, James 'Bahn', William who married Hannah (Norah) McGee in 1899 at Carrowcannon, Crossroads, Dunfanaghy. Also Patrick b 1866, Mary b 1874 and Daniel b 1878 in Derryreel, Crossroads - this Daniel married Anne Shields in 1915 in Glasgow. Ann Shields was born in America, according to 1901 census return in Glasgow. Ann's parents were Charles Shields and Bridget or Mary Duddy or Dudgeon. Hope we can make a connection. Our Sarah/Sally Doohan is reported to have been born at Torry Island but we have never been able to get any more information about her apart form the fact she probably died between 1910 and 1915. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Young" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 10:10 PM Subject: Re: [DONEGAL] McFaddens, Shields > Tracey: > > Did you come across any other family names, ie > > Gallagher > Doohan > Ferry > Currain > > regards, > > > susan > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tracey" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 2:24 PM > Subject: [DONEGAL] McFaddens, Shields > > > > Hi, > > > > I am writing from Australia, and I am trying to research the following > > people. > > > > Manus McFadden married Mary Shields 09.04.1882 at Carrigart, Donegal, > > Ireland > > > > They had three children in Ireland, Manus (b1883), Sophia (b 1885), and > > Andrew (b 1887) then the moved to Glasgow, Scotland where they had 4 more > > children and Mary died shortly after the last child. > > > > Mary's parents are Charles Shields and Sophia McFadden and they were > farmers > > and they had deceased by 1900. > > > > What I would love to know about these people are any birth details, > Charles > > and Sophia birth, marriage and death details.
