    3. Hi Liam, It is the same old thing for me but I guess it may have been awhile since I posted. I am looking for My McGinley & Galla(g)her family. John McGinley (born abt 1858) son of Hugh married Mary Ann Galla(g)her daughter of John in 1884. they live at Castlequarter on Inch Island. Their children are: Annie (1885), John, (1887), Hugh (1888), David (1890), Ellen or Nellie (1894), Charles (May 1895) Catherine or Katie( 1899) and then my greatgran Elizabeth (Lizzie) born somewhere between 1893 -1896. She has lied about her age and we have just started figuring it out. Lizzie came to Canada but the rest stayed behind. My trip over is very meaning full for me to be the first in my family to return and walk the land my greatgrandparents left behind 100 years ago for Canada. I had hoped to have a chance to talk with the priest that wrote to my aunt. My experience with Catholic church records in Canada is that usually their is more information in them then I can find in a cert. A marriage has both parents listed (including mother with maiden name). The baptism usually has a birth date. And I had hoped to find these before I went looking of the certs. The ages I have are from the census and may not be exact. I don't have alot of research time in Ireland for this line of my family and most of my stay will be in the south, but I get 2 days to visit Inch Island and area. I am hoping to stumble over a gravestone or something while there. I am not the one booking the place but I will send a letter to ones who are right away and I will let them know about your cousin's place. Any idea of what the charge would be to have the church records checked by either place? 3. Dear Tammy Visiting Inch Island and talking to the Parish Priest may be a great experience for you but of little use Genealogically. Exhaust the sources available in Canada before venturing abroad or enjoy your visit and then look at the records eg Burt Parish 1. Available Records with LDS Tithe Applotment Books Griffith's Valuations 1901 and 1911 Census Tithe Applotment Books Bruree - Buttevant LDS 256576 1901 and 1911 Census 1901 D.E.D. 101/1-17 LDS 827661 Item 1 1901 D.E.D. 104/1-5 LDS 827662 Item 1 1911 Burt D.E.D. 101/1-10 Townlands: Ballymoney, Blanket Nook, Bohullion Lower, Bohullion Upper, Bynnamayne, Carrowen, Carrownamaddy, Carrowreagh, Castlecooly, Grange LDS 2081720 1911 Burt D.E.D. 101/11-17 Townlands: Inch Level, Lisfannan, Moness, Mulleny, Skeoge, Speenoge, Toulett LDS 2081721 1911 Birdstown D.E.D. 104/1-5 Townlands: Ballyederowen, Drumhaggart, Dundrean, Elagh Beg, Gortcormacan LDS 2081722 2. Maritime History Archive Memorial U. Newfoundland St John’s Newfoundland Canada 00 1 709 737 3123 has all the Catholic BMD for County Donegal The researcher there is Jennifer Bragg [email protected] 3. Get the map "The Discovery Series Sheet 7" from www.elstead.co.uk Castlequarter is marked on this map. If you climb Grianan Ailigh you will be able to look down on Inch Island and CQ. The Parish Church, Parochial House and graveyard are at Crislaghmor on the mainland to the East of Inch Island where you might stumble over a gravestone. 4. Visit the Heritage Centre in Derry where all Donegal BMDs are on computer record or have them do a search for you in advance. Their website (http://www.irish-roots.net/Derry.htm) quotes a fee as (US $50 or £30 (sterling)) Have a great trip. I visited Magheryard where my paternal Ggrandmother was born (just south of Drumnacross) on a trip six months ago. Liam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Dr W.J.
