Hello Dorothy I am transcribing some birth records for Malin Presbyterian Church Co Donegal (Inishowen) and I came across the following Date of Baptism: 5 August 1877 Name of Child: Mary Louisa Armstrong Sex: F Name of Father: William Armstrong Name of Mother: Mary Jane Wilson Occupation of Father: Sub Constable. Unfortunately there is no other information. I would think that he would have been with the RIC if he was a sub constable and I presume that because the child was baptised in Malin that he was stationed there at the time. Perhaps this helps.
