Hi George, I am no expert in Donegal research. I did meet a family of Drummond folk in 1994 who lived probably on Abbeylands or an adjoining townland just West of Ballyshannon town. There were three living at the time. Eddie, who must have been the oldest because it was his farm, Jimmy who I think lived with Eddie and Nancy who was a charmer and had her own duplex down the road a short walk. Eddie's cottage was thatched, the barn was across the lane toward the bay which could be seen in the distance. Nancy offered me a tour of her home and I walked there with her. On the way she told me that her home had inside facilities while Eddie's didn't and she thought I might like to use them. Her home was a yellow duplex. She rented out one side to summer visitors and lived in the other. While there we also went to visit another old man Willie Sweeney. We just visited in the yard and were introduced to another man, Jack Drum who was visiting Willie. Both were covered with what looked like peat soot. All of these people were 80+. They had been contemporaries and friends of my father-in-law who was also from Abbeylands townland. The Drummond house had many artifacts, pictures etc that made me believe they had lived in the area for some time. I don't know that they were Catholic but I am fairly certain I would have been told if they were not by my very Catholic hosts. When back in Ballyshannon in 1999, we stopped and their was only one left. I think it was Jimmie. He seemed to be slow thinking and just kept repeating they are all gone now I am all that is left. He was sitting in the doorway with his dogs. We just visited from the car because he didn't seem to know who we were even when we told him about our visit of a few years before.
