    1. Re: [DONEGAL] Bradley, O'Donnell,
    2. IHow far back to records go for Carndonagh, County Donegal? Is there anyone out there searching for family in that area? I am interested in finding all I can about my Grandparents and their families that came from Carndonagh. The names are Bradley, and O'Donnell. My grandparents married in Boston Ma in 1902, but both were born in Carndonagh. Patrick Bradley, son of Bernard Bradley and Mary McGeoghan and was born May 10, 1863 or 1864. Mary Anne O'Donnell daughter of James O'Donnell and Susan"White"Doherty was born July 28-29 or so in 1873 or 1874 also in Carndonagh. Mary Anne had several siblings Nesl, John, Philip, Denis, Maggi, . Bernard Bradley was the son of Cornelius Bradley(1802-1851) and Mary Dogherty(1811-1861) Birth-Civil and any other information would be very helpful. I think Bernard was born in 1838. I also think James O'Donnell, and Susan'White"Doherty were born about 1845. Thank you one and all for any help Barbara

    3. County Donegal is the absolute worst place in Ireland for research. They were the wild, unconquered Celts. I am working on Clann Cearnacháin, presently known as Carnahan, Carnaghan, Kernohan, etc. Unfortunately I have had to share my info with Donegal as they had none to share with me! Try PRONI. Even though Donegal is not part of Northern Ireland, they have some info on Donegal. Other than that, just keep digging. 3. Sorry, forgot to mention O'Donnell in Donegal. They were one of the last Clans to hold power over Donegal. It is a common name from Donegal. They were one of the ones who ran Clann Cearnacháin out of the County. Clann Cearnacháin all went to Scotland. Some came back as Planters, and then sailed for the new worlds (note plural), others sailed direct from Scotland. Look at the records for Scotland as well as Ireland. The LDS Family History Centres have microfilms of the land and census records, so it it may be a good idea to pay them a visit and at least look at the 1901 census for those townlands, as they should have some family still in them then. Hope this helps! Lindel [email protected] wrote: >IHow far back to records go for Carndonagh, County Donegal?
