    1. Re: [IRL-CO-DONEGAL] [DONEGALEIRE] Question on 1878 marriage in Monreagh, County Donegal
    2. Hi Joe, Haugh, usually called Haw now, is in the parish of Taughboyne, a mile or so from Monreagh. See map at this link: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bhilchey/MTaughboyne.html The other townland is Imlick. Imlick is a townland in the neighbouring parish of Killea: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bhilchey/MKillea.html It is less than 2 miles from Haw, so well within courting distance!! There is no resident minister at Monreagh now, in fact the manse there is at the moment being converted into an international study centre for Scots Irish Presbyterian links and will be open later this year: http://news.ulster.ac.uk/releases/2005/1948.html The minister who covers Monreagh is the Reverend Dr David Latimer, minister of 1st Londonderry Presbyterian church but the last I heard, he was serving as a chaplain with the Royal Irish Rangers in Iraq. Furthermore, I would strongly advise you that these ministers are overworked and underpaid and are never too keen to do these look-ups - even if you send them a donation (about 20 euros). Finally, may I suggest that as a way forward, you have a look at the wee booklet on Lindel's webiste which I wrote to help people starting out on genealogy in Donegal: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~donegal/genbooklet.pdf Regards, Boyd. -----Original Message----- From: donegaleire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:donegaleire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of JFHcoop1@cs.com Sent: 03 September 2008 04:01 To: irl-donegal@rootsweb.com; donegaleire@rootsweb.com; irl-co-donegal@rootsweb.com Subject: [DONEGALEIRE] Question on 1878 marriage in Monreagh, County Donegal Hello to all on the list, I have a copy of a marriage cert. between Andrew HUNTER and Rebecca LONG at Monreagh Presbyterian Church on 11/14/1878. Andrew's residence is listed as Haugh, Rebecca's appears to be "Inlick", as best I can tell. Would anyone out there with knowledge of the area around that time be willing to permit me to email a copy of the cert to get their opinion? Also, would the Monreagh Church be the place to write for records on this family? SNIP
