Hi, I saw your site on the Roots Web. My great, great great grandparents are James McPaul and Rebecca Campbell. I live in Australia in the Blue Mountains which starts about 60kms west of Sydney in New South Wales.I am in the Lower Blue Mountains. It is the same mountain range as THE THREE SISTERS approx one hour from my place at Katoomba. How are you related to James and Rebecca ? My great great grandfather is George McPaul who married Mary Miller. Mary Millers parents were dairy farmers. Their daughter Mary McPaul married a Irish school teacher from Tyrone Allen Hamilton at Dapto near Wollongong.He was educated at Trinity College Dublin. The family lived in the school teacher's residence next to the school. The first school and teacher's residence which was a slab hut was at Mt Keria(near Wollongong) .Second school at Bulli which was a weatherboard school an teacher's residence also near Wollongong. Most of the pupils fathers would have been coal miners. Allen and Mary moved to the gold mining town of Home Rule near Gulgong New South Wales. They lived in a red brick teachers residence. Both Mary and Allen are buried in Gulgong. Mary died in 1913. Only a few houses and the school building still exist at Home Rule. Gulgong is a famous historic tourist town. One of our most famous short story writers and poets Henry Lawson lived in the Gulgong area. My grandfather Allen Roy Hamilton was born in the teacher's residence in Home Rule.
