    3. Hi Judy. Thank you for asking about my family. My immigrant ancestor Hugh Linn or Lynn lived near Newry after he married Sarah Widney, who was from County Tyrone. I suspect Hugh was originally from Tyrone also. The reason I'm also interested in Donegal is that the records I have point to Hugh being descended from one of several men, believed to brothers, who were Scots settlers in Londonderry, Donegal, and Tyrone between 1610 and 1619. They were William, John, and David Lynn (also spelled at the time Lyne and Lynne). Hugh was raised a Presbyterian, which these men were also. By contrast, most Linns and Lynns of Ireland descend from the Irish Catholic O'Flynns. My brother participated in a Y-DNA study and has absolutely no matches in the Lynn/O'Flynn group. Are you looking for them in Donegal or just for a portage area? It doesn't sound from what you read that they are from Donegal. Judy
