    3. I too am interested in the questions you have asked. Is there any books covering Kilmacrenan during this time period? I have been looking for information regarding my Dever family for years. James Dever who was married to Sarah Cheatley in Kilmacrenan came to Canada in 1862. I have often wondered what prompted their leaving. Was the worst of the famine over by then? I have read some books about the famine but none have that have covered Kilmacrenan. Now that it has been narrowed down to the Parish of Kilmcrenan -- was land confiscated in this area in 1845-46? Does any one else have family that come from the Parish of Kilmcrenan to the USA about this time period 1845-46??? Any family stories that have been handed down from before 1845-46? Was Thomas' passage paid by someone else, who sent a group over from the Parish of Kilmcrenan? Was this kind of thing being done in 1845-46, by a priest, a landlord, etc., in the Parish of Kilmcrenan? Why did Thomas take the expensive route from Co. Donegal to Liverpool to NYC -- why didn't he take the cheaper route from Co. Donegal to Derry to Canada? Did a group from the Parish of Kilmcrenan come & settle in the same areas in the USA in 1845-46? Thomas settle in Reading, Berks Co., PA! I have the "Report on the Irish Naturalized in Delaware Co., PA," -- Co. Donegal is at the top of the list with 272 males naturalized before 1860. They mainly came from Co. Donegal to Derry to NYC or to Philadelphia! Interesting! In 1845-46 was one route of departure favored over another? Weren't they all hungry! (rhetorical) Helen M.
