Annemarie I was thinking just because he lived in Phila doesn't mean he came in to Philly. He could have come in at Baltimore or Virginia. I will check these too. I dug a little -- here are some of my notes from perusing his census records: . Occupation: Skin sorter (leather factory), 1889-1934, Duncan Hood, near 2nd & Arch, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. 23,170,181,182,183 * Census: 2356 Leithgow Street / age 35, 1900, 19-WD, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsyvania, USA. 1900 United States Census. In the 1900 Census, James Feeney's year of immigration looks like 1891. The page is VERY difficult to read, though. . Census: 2046 Bodine Street / age 42, 1910, 19-WD, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsyvania, USA. 1910 United States Census. In the 1910 Census, James Feeney's year of immigration looks like 1886. . Census: 269 Diamond Street / age 56, 1920, 19-WD, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsyvania, USA. 1920 United States Census. In the 1920 Census, James Feeney's year of immigration looks like 1889. . Census: 522 Tabor Road / age 65, 1930, 42-WD, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. 1930 United States Census. In the 1930 Census, James Feeney's year of immigration looks like 1890. After reading all this, I estimated the immigration/emigration to be 1890, but really I do not know. Thanks again for your interest in my puzzle! -----Original Message----- From: irl-co-donegal-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-co-donegal-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of JANICEFRIEL@aol.com Sent: Friday, April 11, 2008 1:28 PM To: irl-co-donegal@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-CO-DONEGAL] immigrant ship lists / Moore Annamarie If you have all those census then you need to tell me what year he immigrated. 1930 Census Column 22 asks for the year of immigration to USA. My ggrandfather James died 7 July 1934 in Philadelphia, wasn't naturalized, didn't serve in the military. I have his marriage cert, burial, death cert, obit. already. I've found him in the 1900,1910,1920 and 1930 Censes in Philadelphia. Thanks! I'm still looking for the emigration of my ggrandfather James Feeney (born ca. 1860 in Co. Derry, grew up in Drumaweer, Moville, Co. Donegal, emigrated to and died in Philadelphia, PA, USA). Family legend has it he emigrated with his cousin, a (John) McShane. Most probable dates of his emigration based on family stories, events and census records are 1880-1895. So if you find a shiplist J. Feeney with any McShane (both from Donegal or Derry) I'd be very grateful to know. There were also Moores in this family who were from Co. Derry, most likely in the vicinity of Limavady-Feeny-Claudy. If it turns out Marilyn has a Derry connection after all, we may be working on the same puzzle there, but I don't have anything for her at this time.
