Carolyn That is all they had for Orange Co., Va. online. Headright's were 50 acres of land given to the transporter for each person they transported. This system was pretty corrupt and these person would do anything to get the 50 acres. Sometimes they would even transport someone from one state to another just to get the acres when they were only suppose to receive the 50 acres if someone was transport from England or another country to America. Anyway, a lot of the records are good and I was able to find one of my relatives records in the headright lists. I'm sure you could search any state and see their headright list. Just search headright's Georgia or Philadelphia, etc. Good luck Janice Friel In a message dated 4/4/2008 11:31:41 A.M.
