Is anyone able to throw any light on this strange one? St Eunan's RC Church Raphoe records reveal my father was Confirmed 1934, the names of 14 other children are on the same page, none of these children's details are recorded, there's not any date of births, or names of sponsors etc. All other pages listing other children's Confirmation give such details. The church secretary says that this is most unusual, she has never come across it before and cannot offer any explanation. I know that my father did not grown up with his unmarried birth mother, it's presumed he grew up with his grandfather or a close relative or family friend in Raphoe. We've thought about the possibilities and as we've no idea where he was born, we've thought that possibly as the War was approaching, children were being evacuated to Raphoe but it does seem a little early. The other possibility which seems more likely is that my father was in an orphanage and with other children of the same age, all were baptised together but as yet we cannot find anything re an orphanage in Raphoe. We have never been able to obtain a birth certificate for my father or a baptism certificate, he does not appear to have been registered at all. Cannot anyone help?
