    2. Annamarie If you have all those census then you need to tell me what year he immigrated. 1930 Census Column 22 asks for the year of immigration to USA. Column 23 asks for Citizenship status just as 1900, 1910 and 1920 do Janice In a message dated 4/11/2008 11:46:05 A.M. My ggrandfather James died 7 July 1934 in Philadelphia, wasn't naturalized, didn't serve in the military. I have his marriage cert, burial, death cert, obit. already. I've found him in the 1900,1910,1920 and 1930 Censes in Philadelphia. Thanks! I'm still looking for the emigration of my ggrandfather James Feeney (born ca. 1860 in Co. Derry, grew up in Drumaweer, Moville, Co. Donegal, emigrated to and died in Philadelphia, PA, USA). Family legend has it he emigrated with his cousin, a (John) McShane. Most probable dates of his emigration based on family stories, events and census records are 1880-1895. So if you find a shiplist J. Feeney with any McShane (both from Donegal or Derry) I'd be very grateful to know. There were also Moores in this family who were from Co. Derry, most likely in the vicinity of Limavady-Feeny-Claudy. I have his marriage cert, burial, death cert, obit. already. I've found him in the 1900,1910,1920 and 1930 Censes in Philadelphia. Thanks! 3. Thanks, Bob, Sadly, there's really not enough information in those records to confirm it's my James Feeney. I spent hours in downtown Philadelphia at the National Archives going over microfilm and index cards with the same experience -- many, too many, possible false positives. Thanks for the search, though! I have to remember not to rule out NYC for his emigration although my gut says he came from Derry or Moville straight to Philly. 3. Hi Jean, I wish I had something beyond the family story that he emigrated with his cousin John McShane -- supposedly the father of the famous builder John McShain -- but I have no records of anything yet to confirm that link, just that the families seem to be from the same region of County Derry. James Feeney's parents (both born in Co. Derry, both died in Drumaweer, Moville, Co. Donegal) were Manus (aka Manasses, Emmanuel, Manuel, Manny) Feeney and Mary Anne Feeney (nee Moore). I have not found their marriage, James' birth/baptismal, or their births, but census and death records indicate all three were born in Co. Derry. The best clue I have to his location is that 'Manus Feeney' is an extremely unusual name and I have only found other Manus Feeneys in Philadelphia or in Limavady, Co. Derry -- that and the town named 'Feeny' not too far away from Limavady. If you have any Moores or Feen(e)ys in your McShane tree, please let me know! You could be part of my missing link.
