Hi, I saw your site on the Roots Web. My great, great great grandparents are James McPaul and Rebecca Campbell. I live in Australia in the Blue Mountains which starts about 60kms west of Sydney in New South Wales.I am in the Lower Blue Mountains. It is the same mountain range as THE THREE SISTERS approx one hour from my place at Katoomba. How are you related to James and Rebecca ? My great great grandfather is George McPaul who married Mary Miller. Mary Millers parents were dairy farmers. Their daughter Mary McPaul married a Irish school teacher from Tyrone Allen Hamilton at Dapto near Wollongong. He was educated at Trinity College Dublin. The family lived in the school teacher's residence next to the school. The first school and teacher's residence which was a slab hut was at Mt Keria(near Wollongong) .Second school at Bulli which was a weatherboard school an teacher's residence also near Wollongong. Most of the pupils fathers would have been coal miners. Allen and Mary moved to the gold mining town of Home Rule near Gulgong New South Wales. They lived in a red brick teachers residence. Both Mary and Allen are buried in Gulgong. Mary died in 1913. Only a few houses and the school building still exist at Home Rule. Gulgong is a famous historic tourist town. One of our most famous short story writers and poets Henry Lawson lived in the Gulgong area. My grandfather Allen Roy Hamilton was born in the teacher's residence in Home Rule. My family is my husband Kevin, children Brendan, Matthew and Margaret I would like to hear from you. kind regards Jennifer Whitehouse
I'm sorry I must have gotten caught up in some spam. I got an email that someone from TX was trying to contact me. My brother who hasn't spoken to the family for 10 years lives in TX, so I replied. I guess I shouldn't have as it attached my email list. So sorry. I will never let this happen again. Janice **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Thanks for sharing your trip Bob, it brought me smiles and memories. My bus incounter did not happen in Donegal but on Connor Pass. Don't you wonder which of your ancesters brought that lady to the cemetery so you could meet family. I often have that feeling when unexpected family history connections are made. Who is pulling the strings. I love it. Judy McKeon In a message dated 10/2/2008 9:52:56 P.M. I have just discovered that an Irish ancestor was married to a daughter of William JOHNSTON and Frances LONE/LOVE. Witnesses to the marriage of George J. ELLIOTT to Emily JOHNSTON in 1916 in Toronto, Canada were Samuel HILLIARD and Emily IRVINE. What is most interesting is that Samuel Hilliard may have been a cousin of George Elliott's in Pettigo (or nearby). Samuel Hilliard and Emily Irvine later married in 1916, a few months after their friends' marriage. If anyone has any connetions, grave inscriptions, suggestions - I would really appreciate it. Thank you - Jane

Hi All; My 3rd Great Grandparents were Hugh GALLAGHER m. Margaret (Catherine) SWEENEY ... from Donegal, Ireland. Their children (only 2 that I know of) were Bridget (my 2nd GGrandmother) b. abt. 1855 Moville, Donegal d. 1906 Greenock, Scotland, and Hugh - no information known. Bridget married Michael BONNAR 19 Oct. 1885 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenock, Scotland. If anyone thinks they may have a connection of any sort, please let me know ... I'm seeking my ancestors in Donegal- my paternal grandparents' last names were Gallagher & McCready, both of which trace to Donegal. They themselves grew up in the 1920s & 1930s in Summit Hill, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA. However, their names trace to Counties Donegal (both), Antrim (McCready), & Ayrshire (Scotland) (McCready). My grandmother's McCready grandmother had McCready as her maiden name and was listed as being born in Ireland in the US Census. I'm wondering if anyone can fill me in on clan history in Donegal and hopefully connect my immigrant ancestors to their home townlands. Other Irish names in that branch include Patrick B. Kelly (born July 1869 in Pennsylvania- his father's name may have been John), Catherine Ward (wife of Bernard Gallagher), Sara(h) Ann Malloy (Maloy). How likely is it that the clan histories match my actual ancestors? Has anyone verified descent from Niall of the Nine Hostages? Anyone have access to the registers that may include these or their immigrant close relatives? Michael Gallagher
Michael— I don’t know anything about the Gallagher family, but I do know a fine gentleman in Donegal who is an avid fan of the history and genealogy of Donegal. He lives in Galwolie townland and he’s the local postman in the rural Cloghan area. He has an intimate knowledge of the area’s history. As a hobby, he’s restored a stone cottage and opened it as a museum. http://www.finnvalley.ie/people/michaelgallagher/index.html My reason for thinking of him is that, amusingly, his name is also Michael Gallagher. If anyone can help you with the name, I’m sure it’s Mickey the Post! Now for the problem, unfortunately he’s not on line... If you have Skype, Yahoo Messenger or some other internet phone program, let me know and I’ll be happy to e-mail you his phone number, otherwise I can send you his address. He really is a nice guy that loves to help, let him know I sent you, he'll love it! Here is the name of one book on that site. The Family of Early: Which Settled Upon the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Put that in the search. Another is: A History of the Family of Early in America. These two books give you Full View, but not all of the books are shown that was. At least it will give you a source and maybe you could find the book. Good Luck Janice Friel **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? There's a new fashion blog, plus the latest fall trends and hair styles at StyleList.com. If I have posted, I found on google book search while search for relatives in Virginia. I know Early was a Donegal name as I have seen it in records I have. The source they gave was the Bulletin of the New York Public Library. Just go to google book search and put in the search Early and it will probably come up again. If I find it again myself, I will send the url. Janice In a message dated 9/11/2008 1:06:06 A.M. I found it as I was searching on google book search for descendants in Virginia. The source they showed was what I stated in the last email. You can find it if you go to google book search and type in Early. Janice In a message dated 9/10/2008 11:12:49 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, brooksgen4@aol.com writes: Janice, ??
