    2. Peter Boyle
    3. Hello Maureen, Sorry I`m a bit slow out of the blocks replying to you post. It would seem that your BOYLE ancestor (and others) came from the same townland as mine so I would be interested if you could send me what you have on this branch of your family. Briefly my family is as follows: CHARLES & SARAH BOYLE arrived Sydney NSW 1841 as bounty immigrants with children Edward and Margaret. Two children, Daniel and Grace were left behind in Donegal and came out to Australia in 1856. CHARLES` parents - FARIGILL BOYLE & MARGARET MAGEE. SARAH`S parents - PETER & MARGARET McBRIDE. CHARLES & SARAH were married 14 Febuary 1834 St. Marys Derrybeg. That is all I know for certain of the family in Donegal. Your Celia Cole information was interesting, Rev.Hugh McFadden was also given as a referee on CHARLES & SARAH`S bounty certificate. Did people such as Cornelius who immigrated with the Donegal Relief Fund have any documentation similar to a bounty certificate or were they just a name on a list? I guess you have his BMD certificates, Aust. certificates often have more information than you expect, I have had a couple of pleasant surprises. All the best with your searches, Peter

    3. Hi I am researching Margaret Kennedy. She was born around 1831, probably in Mullaghfin Co Donegal. She married James McDevitt and had 6 children- William 1863, Margaret 1865, Sarah 1867, James 1871, John 1873, Catherine 1877. James , her husband died in 1877 at Castletorris, and she died in 1902 also at Castletorris. It looks as though Margaret may have had either a sister or mother named Catherine, and brothers or uncles named Denis and Bryan from Mullaghfin. I have tried very very hard to chase up all I can on my McDevitt side, but it is very slow. I thought I might give this a go! I would appreciate any help. Fil Vandertuin, Melbourne Australia

    1. [DONEGAL] Andersons in Letterkenny
    2. Still looking for anyone else researching Anderson families in Letterkenny 1750-1850 period. Specifically have a Jane Anderson b. abt 1800 and her brother Fitzgerald Anderson--who were in Montreal, Canada by 1820, without their parents. Their mother was "Lady Fitzgerald" and I think their father may have been named James, as both Jane and Fitzgerald named their oldest sons James. Jane in NH, USA

    3. Hi Lorraine, it is great to hear from you. I guess I have come to a full stop now, I know that Hugh McCole's father was a character nicknamed fair haired Charlie (Charles McCole). I believe he married a Sile pronounced Seely Duffy- this could have been where the Cecelia came in for Hugh and Madgy's youngest daughter, she ended up marrying a Ned Donaghan/Donaghey. Hugh shared the farming duties on his lot with a Bridget McBride, now I am only assuming this could have been his married sister. There were two generations of Hugh McColes, the first marrying Madgy Boyle circa 1859 and the second (perhaps a nephew, marrying a Bridget McBride). Hugh appears to have inherited the lot he farmed Owned by Lord George Hill from a Duffy, this gives me more evidence that perhaps this was Sile Duffy's father. Of interest also is that there was also a lass called Fanny Duigan/Dugan/Duggan, who also travelled to Australia, she married Andrew Whitton, but the McCole girls used her as witness to their weddings, and brough properties in the same street as her. Fanny McCole's infant daughter was buried in a tomb adjoining Fanny Whitton/Duggan. Also Bridget McCool/McCole sponsored Susan Gallagher out to Australia, so there was definitely some close connection between the Duffy's, Duggans, McBrides and McCole/McCoal/Mccools. Wouldnt it be so wonderful if we could establish some sort of connection. So good to hear from you. One group, including a Fergal BOYLE, also has a number of MAGEES sharing a 322 acre plot. This information matches what is shown in the Tithe Applotment list from 1830. I don`t know the names of any of my gg grandfather`s siblings but it would seem certain that one would be called Fergal, the father`s name. At this point all this is mere speculation but that is way better that nothing at all. 3. To Peter Rob and Liam I have Boyle ancestors that came from Dore (Doar), my gggrandmother was Madgy Boyle and she had a brother Cornelius who came to Australia in 1859 with Donegal Relief fund. Cornelius had one son named Manus, that is all we really know about our side of the Boyle family. Madgy married Hugh McCole circa 1859 and they had 4 daughters, Mary and Bridget twins, Fanny born 1867 and Celia born 1868. Celia married Ned Donaghey/Donaghan and ran the farm in Ardnagappary, I can furnish more info if you need it. The years catch up, Rob Doragh [email protected]> My BOYLE ancestors left Donegal as bounty immigrrants in 1841. the Flax list for Tullaghabegly parish could be checked for my ggg grandfather FERGHAL BOYLE his wife MARGARET MAGEE. 3. Dear Peter Re Hello list and Rob, A searchable version of the 1847-1864 Griffiths Valuation for all of Ireland is now available on the URL www.otherdays.com You can sign up for $8 for 72 hours and search Donegal for the Boyles and Magees. You don't need to know the townland or parish. Some of the Boyle siblings may have hung around long enough to have had themselves listed as tenants. You could key in on Parishes with groups of Boyles and MAGEEs in close proximity and then check these areas again on the 1901 census. Marriage records of Charles's siblings in those areas should reveal the name FERGHAL BOYLE as father of the Bride/groom. The complete searchable Griffiths on-line has changed Irish Genealogy immeasurably, roll on the complete on line searchable 1901 census and parish BMD records. Let me know how you get on Liam "A bird in the bush is worth two in the Cat" .

    3. Hello Peter, http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Edonegal/tulltithes.htm This has the Tithes for 1830 for Tullaghobegly. There are quite a few Boyles and some Magees, including one Fargel and three Fargil Boyle. Rob Doragh Liverpool UK <[email protected]> My BOYLE ancestors left Donegal as bounty immigrrants in 1841. I wonder if the Flax list for Tullaghabegly parish could be checked for my ggg grandfather FERGHAL BOYLE his wife MARGARET MAGEE. Their son - migrated in 1841 - was named CHARLES, born about 1808. 1. [DONEGAL] BOYLE in Tullaghobegly Parish, Donegal
    2. Peter Boyle
    3. Hello list and Rob, I am an old list sitter just checking each day to see if something of interest pops up. My BOYLE ancestors left Donegal as bounty immigrrants in 1841 so there are not many Irish records that I can draw on. Most of what I have found has turned up here in Australia but the Flax list has stirred my interest, I had not encountered it before. I wonder if the Flax list for Tullaghabegly parish could be checked for my ggg grandfather FERGHAL BOYLE and his wife MARGARET MAGEE. Their son - who migrated in 1841 - was named CHARLES, he was born about 1808. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Peter, Melbourne Aust.
