Good Evening All I am looking for info on Mathew O'Brien and his wife Mary Scully. Mathew emigrated to the US/Virginia/Lynchburg about 1839/40. His children came later and it is reported his wife died in Ireland. The baptismal register for the three children born in Ireland have him there until Sept of 1839(9 mos before last child born). I have who I believe is him on the 1840 census for Bedford County Virginia. This data was suppose to be as of 1 June 1840. Going back to the Baptisaml Registers the children were baptized in what is today known as the ecclesiastical Parish of Bodyke-Tomgraney. The priest recorded the family's address as Knockbrack which is a subdivision of the townland of Drummod. Once in Virginia Mathew married Minerva Litchford and their first born was my Great Grandmother--Elizabeth Catherine O'Brien. If I am fortunate that anyone out there has info on this family I would certainly appreciate it. There are about 5 of us descendants working on this and I am headed to Ireland this fall to see if legwork can replace money and find out anymore about Mathew.
