Thanks for the compliment on my memory, which indeed at one point was photographic in quality but time has taken its toll. Now, onto the families with peripheral significance in your family history. Verling is the spelling more usual in Co. Cork, which is the likely origin of the Verlins who resided in Clare (Google for Mary Mullins' description of the first O'Callaghan to be exiled to Clare, with some associated families). I am checking into some Verlins in the U.S. cenuses and will report if I find anything of note. However, as to the relevant Fitzgerald in this time period, you may want to consider either this gentleman or his father: Fitzgerald, Jas. Foster V., address: Moyriesk, Quin 1,047 acres listed in Return of Owners of Land... for which the year may be either 1875 or 1871 [I am not satisfied that anyone has pinned it down yet] This was a major propertied family in SW Ireland, so it is not surprising that there is also a listing for: Fitzgerald, Wm. Foster Vesy Derrybrick, Kilmihill 3581 acres There are other listings for family members in Dublin and London, all typical for landed gentry of that era. Hope that adds to the overall picture. Thanks for keeping us informed as things develop. Sharon C.
