    3. Pat Connors, See my below P.S. regarding your easy-to-follow description of how you manage all your data. First I must say something about your regret in the sequel of the traditional Clare list. You have only the same liability that the Wright Brothers would have for their invention which also shrank the world but which can be in any one incident (highjacking, pilot error, corporate negligence in vehicle maintenance) the cause of incredible human misery when a plane goes down. Your act of creation far outshines any one individual's mishandling of the tremendous resource you made and maintained for us. How ever would I know that there were family members who survived and made it to the U.S. ? I can't get to Chicago to do the key obituary lookups, but Clare listmember Judie Mason of IL did for me and thus I have that all-important data. As well, Patrick McCarty and Ciaran O Murchadha were able to provide essential elements of the Irish end of the story only because the Clare list exists as a place to communicate. You ventured to put a mighty ship out on a vast ocean. Your captaincy was outstanding and appreciated. But both captains and passengers go on to other ships and other voyages. No one vehicle is all that critical, but a constant lot of them will accommodate the need to travel the Internet and meet other passengers along the way. Enough gushing for now, Sharon C. P.S. I know the kind of setup you were describing at your local FHC. I ran out and got my flashdrive in anticipation of doing the same thing at the new building for the National Archives in an Atlanta suburb. However, before I could get over there to use it, the facility director noticed that no one was showing up to use the huge room full of sophisticated computer equipment and row upon row of cabinets holding genealogy microfilms. So, one day when I could make the 2-hour round trip and get in two or three hours of research, I arrived to find the huge room darkened and empty. Although the NARA website still does not hint at this, 95% of the films are now stored in the basement and all the fancy machines are gone. The staff urges researchers to use Ancestry.com on the three simple onsite computers, the same as even the smallest public library can provide. Bizarre and truly a misfortune for family historians in this area. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Connors" <nymets11@pacbell.net> To: <irl-clare-projects@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 20, 2007 12:31 AM Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE-PROJECTS] from one computer to another > Hi Sharon, I work with two computers, main desk top and laptop.
