    3. Thanks very much for this, Sharon. One of our bits of family lore about the origins of the Tubber Caseys says that they came from Lisduff but I've tended to discount that because Lisduff is so far away. There is a Casey in your list, albeit a Stephen Casey, which is not one of our family forenames. I'm looking forward to other listers contributing transcriptions to the Clare Library site. The process could unearth a lot of interesting material, some of which may have been languishing in drawers for lack of knowledge as to how to put it online. I did use the Xdrive upload-and-download method, which was sufficiently swift and easy that I could finish the C spreadsheet, sent last evening to the Clare Library. Maureen Comber just emailed me that it is now online. This is the largest of the surnames which I transcribed for that year, but I do have some additional surnames to do. I kept the spellings just as I had in my notes, which were done in pencil back in 1998 or 2004 (can't remember which trip), per the requirements of the Archives. Pencil does not permit my best writing. I did see a "Marham" which is undoubtedly Markham but I kept it the way the records had it. I think all the surnames are very recognizable, although the placenames are another matter. In any case, comparing the men in this database to the ones listed at the same places just one/two years later in the Tithe Applotment may yield some interesting results. 3. Well, not so fast on the discounting, because, having now read through your website listed on the Clare Past forum, you mention Thomas Verlin in your northern Clare/southern Galway area. He is likely (same time period) the same Thomas Verlin who appears in the Kilkishen area in the GV. Just as I am taking more and more note of the names appearing in Kilrush east to Newmarket and finding the Studderts as landlords in all of those areas, I know that you are looking at instances of Vesey-Fitzgerald. So, consider this: Registry of Deeds, Henrietta St, Dublin Barony of Bunratty #882-428 1828-1832 time period Backfield and Classduff [Gortadroma and Clashduff, which are basically Kilkishen] Lord Devesci by deed of trust That is from the notes I made.
