    1. [IRL-CLARE-PROJECTS] Sharon transferring files to a laptop
    2. Good Evening fm Florida Sharon Sorry to see you chose to leave the list. I have enjoyed your postings immensely but we have to do what we think is right and best for ourselves. Re your transfer of files--Certainly an external HD is one way to go and I have two--both full. Oh well they make them faster than I can fill them-just takes money. There is another option that I am now using to share information. There is a company called XDrive located at --you guessed it--xdrive.com. They will give you 5 GB of storage space free. IF YOU HAVE A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION this works great. You could push your files to you storage location and then pull them back down on your new computer. They have some prelabeled folders--which I have chosen not to use but there are some of the standard ones on your computer. My Documents, My pictures etc. All you have to do is open up your file on Xdrive, identify the folder you want to upload and click on transfer. I am using it to share my Irish research for County Clare and the O'Briens with fellow researchers. You can chose to share the file and allow others to read what you have, change what you have posted or add to the list. I have chose read only to start with. If you are interested in how it works I have no problem with allowing you access to my file so you can try it. Just send me a note. I hope your files will be in the library by the end of Oct when my wife and I will be there for two weeks doing sightseeing and research. Good luck on your new road Doug ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
