    1. [IRL-CLARE] Locating a residence from 1901 census data
    2. Hello All, >From the 1901 Co. Clare census, I've made a list of all Maggie/Margaret Hayses, with the form ** "Surname, Forename, Townland/Street, DED, County, Age, Sex, Birthplace, Occupation, Religion, Literacy, Irish Language, Relation to Head of Household, Marital Status, Specified Illnesses Hayes, Margaret, Church Street, Clare, Clare, 60, F, Co Clare, , Roman Catholic, Cannot read or write, Irish and English, Boarder, Widow," ** As with the Margaret listed above, in a few cases the entry implies that Margaret lived in DED Clare I want to locate where each Maggie/Margaret lived. To do so, I'm using the 1901 Union and DED lists and maps at http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/1901census/1901_clare_census_deds.htm [Note: in case they don't appear in this message, there are underscore marks (_) in the 3 spaces after the last forward slash in the URL]. This list of unions and DEDs does not show a Clare DED. It does show a Clareabbey DED in Ennis Union and a Cooraclare DED in Kilrush Union. It also shows four Urban Ennis DEDs in Ennis Union. Do you think this Margaret on Church Street lived in one of the Urban Ennis DEDs, in Clareabbey DED in Ennis Union, or in Cooraclare DED in Kilrush Union? Would Clareabbey or the Urban Ennis DEDs have been considered the main town in Co. Clare in 1901? Thanks for any thoughts. PJ
