    1. Re: [IRL-CLARE] LONG / FITZJARRIS / BUTLER
    2. Fitzjarris was probably Fitzharris. If John and Mary married in Ireland, you could look for counties where both surnames appear. If not, it's a long shot you'll find their baptisms, presumably in the 1820s. As to John Butler, the fact he named a son Ferdinand suggests that might have been his father's name. Griffith's shows a Fardy Butler in Inchicronan civil parish, Crusheen Catholic. Unfortunately, filmed church records begin in 1860. Mary Fiztjarris (? spelling as read from obit) LONG, born in Ireland, living in New York in 1854. MARY LONG, daughter of above, born in Randolph, New York in Nov. 1854, died 1911, Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri JOHN BUTLER, born County Clare, Ireland in 1839, immigrated to New York in 1860, married MARY LONG in the 1860s when Mary was very, very young. Died in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri in 1920 KATHLEEN BUTLER, born to John and Mary in Buffalo, New York in 1880. JOSEPHINE BUTLER, born to John and Mary in Buffalo, New York in 1881. CLARA AUGUSTA BUTLER (my Mom) born in Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri on July 12, 1890. Other siblings were JULIA, MARY and FERDINAND. These are locations and dates taken from obituaries, death certificates, etc. I do have a copy John Butler's application for Citizenship dated sometime in the 1880s in Buffalo, Erie County, New York, but the date isn't clear. It was among his possessions at the time of his death in Sedalia in 1920. I have applied for final citizenship papers and received three "possible" ones but they tell me there is no way to guarantee it is my John Butler. Hope someone sees a connection here!
