    1. [IRL-CLARE] How to contact Hayes in Liscannor
    2. Hello List, I'm researching two families from Liscannor, Co. Clare. Catherine Hayes, enumerated as Katie in the Liscannor household of John and Margaret Hayes in the 1901 Irish census, was my great aunt. She emigrated to the US in 1902 and apparently worked in the textile mills of Lowell, Massachusetts. She returned to Ireland in spring 1910, and then returned to the US in fall 1910 with her husband Thomas Plunkett, of Kingstown. They lived and raised their family in Lowell until the mid-1920s, when they moved to Brooklyn, New York, where they lived until they died. The other Liscannor Hayes family in the 1901 census, quite probably related to John Hayes's family, was that of Martin and Mary Hayes. Both families were much diminished in the 1911 census. My research so far tells me of their family members' successive waves of migration, each person arriving to go to a previously migrating family-member's residence. Many of them came to Massachusetts at the end of the 1800's and the early 1900's. I've tracked many of their arrivals and residences. They seem to me to exemplify a group's exodus from poor prospects in Ireland to hoped-for better prospects in America, and I want to understand and document their movement. Some years ago I wrote (old-fashioned) letters to several Hayes people listed online as Liscannor residents, asking for information on people who had emigrated to the US. I never received any response. I've posted a request for info on the Rootsweb Hayes list and recently on this list, without results. My question: What can I do to locate and make contact with current Hayes residents in and around Liscannor who are willing to communicate with me about their ancestors or to refer me to others who have knowledge about them? I'll appreciate all suggestions. PJ, in Texas, USA
