    3. I'm looking for information about my GGGrandfather John HANNON. All I know about him is that he was married to Bridget FLOOD. Their son Thomas HANNON came to Australia in 1854 at the age of around 30. I dont' know if Thomas had siblings. I would love to learn more about the HANNON's as I'm coming to Ireland in July this year. Regards, Glenys

    3. Glenys, What you're really missing is a townland. But even then, if Thomas is born c1824, his parents John Hannon and Bridget Flood are born around 1800. So you'll be struggling to find records. Like many people, you don't say where Thomas Hannon disembarked. I'd direct you to the State Archives of that state. Check the shipping records. NSW & QLD are now imaged, so you can see original list. For Assisted Immigrants you get extra data often including native place, parents, description etc. This should give townland. Check also for family members or relatives who may have accompanied him. While the records are free at State Archives sites, many are also on Ancestry if you have a subscription or library access. If two records appear, check both. Each has different data. Hopefully that will give a townland or parish. But the question will be, if early records are available. Check the resources on Clare library site. Peter in Sydney

    3. Many thanks for your reply Peter. I have all the documentation after arriving in Victoria. My apology for not adding this information. Unfortunately I know nothing about townlands. I'm thinking this is something I should research. Clare Library sounds good.
