Isn't Tonawanda in NY state?? If so, did you check out death records available in 1852?? There might be some info there. Of course, keeping in mind only as good as the knowledge base of the person providing. Have you checked for obits in local paper of that time? If they were in USA in 1852, did you check out his naturalization, both forms?? We found that many in NY and New England states had more information than ones in OH, IN, IL etc. If any of their sons were in the Civil War, check out Pension Application. Although the info will be on son, there may be some clues. If Catholic, have you checked out the Diocese Archives for Tonowanda. Also, check out the wife's sacramental & civil records in USA. I have checked the records there for George and his wife, but what I really want is who was George's parent's and siblings, and so far I have not been able to find that.
