    1. Re: [IRL-CLARE] Casey from Kilfenora
    2. John probably went to Chicago in the 1890s for the same reason my grandparents did, it was a boomtown, the fastest-growing city in America after it held the World's Columbian Exposition. Not all deaths were recorded. I'd put more faith in the memorial too. A Memorial would be expensive and I could find no record of a wife either. Without being able to get back to MA and go through the church records myself I was starting to think that there had been two Casey families. The oldest son from the 1st marriage "John" did go Chicago and married there in 1895 to a Catherine Mulvihill. I'm not sure why he would be there at that date. He and the 1st born Mary were born in Ireland in 1870 and 1872. I haven't been able to find anything yet on Patricks 2nd wife Julia O'Neil b.1876 Ireland she would be my Greatgrandmother on that branch. Regards, Clara You figure out who is who by cross-referencing other records, like church and civil and revised Griffith's valuations. Kilshanny church records haven't been filmed by the LDS but Kilfenora have, beginning in 1836, so Patrick's baptism should be there, as well as any children he had in Ireland. If Patrick was born in 1847, his father would have been old enough to be in Griffith's, which tends to confirm that he was James, not Daniel. When you post in the future, be sure to put in a subject line so people searching the archives can find your post. Something like Casey from Kilfenora and O'Grady from Kilshanny would be very helpful.
