My husband and I are making plans to visit England and Ireland in August, including Feakle (where my McMahon relatives came from) and Liscannor (Carmody). It looks reasonable to get to either place from Ennis, where we could visit the Clare Museum. Figure we'd need to avoid Feakle Aug. 7-12 during the music festival. Prefer not to rent a car (driving on the left hassle), and it looks feasible to take Barrett (bus)Tours to see places around Liscannor. Possibly cabs for visiting towns. Will see travel agent next week. I've contacted County Clare tourism to ask if there are historical societies, tour guides, government officials, etc. in Feakle and Liscannor I could contact ahead of time to let them know when we would be arriving. I'm guessing there will be no vital records, but if there are buildings from around the time they left (potato famine), I'd be interested in seeing them. Any suggestions, recommendations would be appreciated. Robin in Maryland
