    3. That's a plausible idea, Declan. Thanks for the suggestion. But why would he not be listed on any ships lists? (And I've read so many that fit the time period and countries, I wouldn't think I'd have missed it.) I suppose that not all the lists of ships that went to Canada have been transcribed though...     3. There are a number of reasons why someone would not show up in shipping records. 1. Records were lost or destroyed or became illegible 2. People didn't have passports and didn't have to prove identity so may have travelled under another name. If a child travelled with another family maybe he was listed under their name.
