    3. Hi everyone The shipping records are available online from the Public Records Office Victoria site. From the home page go to Access the Collection and scroll down to PROV's digitised records and online indexes The information for my Maloney family has come from the death certificates of Patrick and Mary Maloney. Victorian BMD index, Trove online newspapers, Buninyong Historical society, Public Record Office Victoria Assisted British Immigrants 1839-1871 – Patrick and Mary MOLONEY arrived in January 1854 on the Wanata (I have not looked at the original). Patrick Maloney is also on a list of people from Clare coming to Australia http://home.iprimus.com.au/pjmg/clare/clareaaustralasia The parishpick on this list is Abbey so with the help of Google and Genuki I found that Abbey is the civil parish, Ballyvagham/Ballyvaughan the Poor Law Union, Burren the Barony and Munster the Province. I would like to find their birth and marriage records. I understand there was a fire in 1922 that destroyed records but is there any other way to find these records or other members of their families. Thanks Jackie

No, the parish records were not in Dublin at that time and in most cases survive. It was the 1841 and 1851 census along with many invaluable manuscripts which were destroyed in the fire. Declan

    3. Jackie, Sorry to prolong this thread. Although shipping is listed under PROV's heading of digitised records and online indexes, there are no online digitised images for shipping records like there are in NSW and QLD. Perhaps there may be digitised images for other record categories. Could also you check the URL for the iprimus site. It doesn't seem to work. Did you check the Clare library site for Emigrants? If they were Catholic, Google "Roman Catholic Parishes of Ireland". That will take you to the Irish Times site which details all available records and where they can be found. It also shows townlands within each parish. Unfortunately Clare records aren't on the IFHF site. You may get lucky if somebody has put some BDM data for your specific parish on the Clare Library site. Peter
