    3. Ms. Carberry: Have you contacted the listmistress and notified her of the problem. I understand your frustration, however, rather than complaining on-line, how about taking steps to correct the situation. Kerry McGrath Iowa USA ----- Original Message ----- From: Sharon Carberry<mailto:sm8carberry@comcast.net> To: irl-clare@rootsweb.com<mailto:irl-clare@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 9:15 AM Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] response to Robert about receiving postings Robert, If you are receiving Clare list postings in your inbox and you are sending postings which appear online, then you do not have a problem. If you look back over the past week, you will see that almost none of the longtime list- members have postings which appear since the list was migrated to the new server by Rootsweb. I don't know how many of them are waiting for something to appear after the list migration is complete (which is now apparently is) and have not caught on that they are off the list until they re-subscribe, as I found that I had to do. If you did not have to do anything to stay subscribed, consider yourself lucky. I have no idea how that happened for you and not for others. 3. Excuse me - my direct email address appears with each posting. I have made no complaint, and I was not posting in order to vent frustration. I took time to alert other listmembers as to an apparent need to re-subscribe. Then I answered Robert's question. That was not "complaining" - a judgmental label to express in this public forum. I would prefer that you tread lightly there and address such a thing in private with me. Concerning prior communication on this with the list administrator, there have been two of those, with no response. I would ordinarily omit mention of such a thing, but you have set this up otherwise. As to corrective steps on my own, I have done all that I can, by re-subscribing and then posting about the need to do so. I have continued my genealogy-oriented postings after re-subscribing. How about you? Where are your Clare postings other than your admonishment ? I see that you have made 4 this year, all in August, which indicates that you are new to the list. I have made 481 postings this year and over 1400 since joining some ten years ago. You need to have your facts straight and be able to correctly assess a situation if you are going to do well in this or any other endeavor. 3. Kerry I am not going to make a big issue out of this. All that I want to say is firstly, Ms Carberry does have a name and in case you do not know, her name is Sharon. Secondly, if you would spend some time and go back through the Archives, just note the amount of help that has been given by MS.Carberry. Sharon has given valuable advice and information and will go out of her way to help anyone who is willing to help themselves. I would not hesitate to ask for her help at any time as we are both researching our East Clare ancestors. To take Sharon's comments as a complaint was obviously a mis-understanding on your part as a new list member. Please Kerry, do the right thing and apologise to Sharon and let us end the matter. 3. Kerry, Sharon was not complaining. She was pointing out a possible issue and suggesting, in her usual positive manner, possible causes. She is an experienced, heavy* and highly valued contributor to the list. She is unlikely to need a tutorial on matters like this. Regarding the role of the listmistress: assuming that she is monitoring the list, the listmistress is presumably aware of what is going on and should not need to be contacted. She will surely chip in as and when needed. Pádraig (the Paddy that was) * I refer to the weight of her contributions, not her nutritional state. -----Original Message----- From: irl-clare-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-clare-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of KERRY C MC*GRATH Sent: 31 August 2006 16:35 To: irl-clare@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-CLARE] response to Robert about receiving postings Ms. Carberry: Have you contacted the listmistress and notified her of the problem.
