    3. This was forwarded from another list I'm on and I thought it may be of interest to our New South Wales listers.. sorry to bore others, but I don't have any other way of reaching them, Chris The following information was posted in the SAG August 2006 newsletter. Online Databases at State Library The State Library of New South Wales is running a trial that allows NSW residents who are registered readers to use various of the library's databases at home. The range of databases being trialled includes: Times Digital Archive, providing access to The Times (London) 1785- 1985 - including all the articles, advertisements, illustrations and photos. New York Times 1851-2003 and five other iconic American newspapers The full text of nearly 150,000 English-language 18th century titles ProQuest Australia and New Zealand Newsstand - full text of more than 40 newspapers, plus transcripts from ABC and BBC radio and TV. The period of coverage varies with the title - some go back as far as 1996; others only a year or so. INFORMIT Online - a wide range of Australian, Asia and Pacific research and information resources None of the family history databases available for use at the State Library is included in the trial, but the list above is expected to make the databases very popular and we hope it will become permanent. The Times Digital Archive, in particular, will be marvellous for British family history research! The trial does include a wide range of other material, less likely to be useful for family history research, but nonetheless well worth exploring! In order to use these various online databases from home, you need to be a resident of NSW, and have a Reader's Card. If you haven't got one of those you can apply for it online, but you'll need to wait (up to 10 days expected) for your card to arrive before you can log in to the trial. To make a start on this process, go to www.sl.nsw.gov.au and follow the link indicated in the above screenshot at the end of our red arrow.
