The following may be of interest to people looking for McNAMARAs in Victoria, Australia. While tracking down Mulqu***s in Victoria, Australia, I purchased a copy of the birth certificate of John Mulqueeney, who was born 25th July 1860 in West Melbourne. His parents were John and Mary Mulqueeney (Grady) who had migrated to Victoria in 1857. The entry in the register immediately above the Mulqueeney entry shows that a baby girl, Bridget, was born on January 29th 1860 to John McNamara, 26, from Co Clare and his wife, 20 year old Mary McNamara (Lynch) also from Co Clare. The McNamaras were married at "Ennisdymond" in Clare in 1857. At the time of Bridget's birth they already had one child. John Mulqueeney and his wife, Mary (Grady) were also married at "Ennisdymond" in 1857. In the column headed "Informant", it shows that baby John Mulqueeney's birth was notified to the Registrar by John McNamara, who registered his own child's birth at the same time. The entry for John Mulqueeney provides further information about John McNamara - it tells us that he was a mason by trade and that he and John Mulqueeney were friends. The McNamaras lived at Alma Street, North Melbourne. There was a year's difference in their ages. Perhaps they were friends back home? The Mulqueeneys came to Australia per MINDORO, sailing from Plymouth in July 1857. I couldn't find the McNamaras on the passenger list. (John Mulqueeny died three months after his son was born, and his son died just a month later.) Cheers Paul Mulquiney
