I HAVE A GGGRANMOTHER MARY MCNAMARA MARRIED TO JOHN MINAHAN 1857 BRIGHTON VIC AUST. BOTH WORKED IN THE RAILWAYS AND ARE BURIED TOGETHER IN THE MARYBOROUGH CEMETERY, THEIR TOMBSTONE STATES "A NATIVE OF CLARE". MARY'S PARENTS WERE JAMES MCNAMARA AND JOHANNA O'MEALLY. I BELIEVE THAT MARY CAME TO AUST AROUND 1856/7 BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE SHIPPING DETAILS. Michael was born in 1856 at Maghera, County Clare - this is north-west of Killaloe, and south of Feakle. Family story is he travelled to Australia with a sister, Mary, in 1880. So your Mary McNamara may be related to my James - whereby he has named a daughter after her.
