    3. Netiquette calls for posters (that's you) to change the subject line ("1866 Index") when your message does not relate to the indicated subject. This act of courtesy is particularly needed when one of us (Toni) has volunteered to use her time and rented film to do lookups, for which she used the subject line of 1866 Index. What you have done is set this up for her to read your messages and wonder whether you are asking for a lookup, and if so, for which people. We need to treat our volunteers far better than that. Also, anyone else reading this and needing to know about how to request a lookup, please abide by the conditions set by the lookup volunteer. "One or two names" does not mean six or seven surnames, and "one or two names" also does not apply to surnames that could easily have more than 3 - 4 births in a year. Do you really want to fall into this category: "give them an inch and they'll take a mile" ? Thank you for your anticipated cooperation. Oral history says they were from Ennis, but have no proof. Ours is a Peter CARMODY who married Bridget FLANAGAN in Ireland and came to the USA circa 1850 with 6 children. No Rosemary though.

    3. And, just as bad, when we have Digest readers who rarely change the Subject lines for the benefit of all, especially for those who might search the holdings in the Archives. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon Carberry" <sm8carberry@comcast.net> To: <irl-clare@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2006 5:53 PM Subject: [IRL-CLARE] April, Frances, Teri, and Michael (Carmody) - please read > Netiquette calls for posters (that's you) to change the > subject line ("1866 Index") when your message does not > relate to the indicated subject. > > This act of courtesy is particularly needed when one of us > (Toni) has volunteered to use her time and rented film to do > lookups, for which she used the subject line of 1866 Index. > What you have done is set this up for her to read your > messages and wonder whether you are asking for a lookup, > and if so, for which people.
