    2. RODNEY MCDONALD
    3. Hi all. New to list and trying to trace the untraceable. I am searching for info on the family of my GG grandfather James Costello / Costelloe and even have spelling of Costellor due to clerical errors. James was born in Co.Clare abt 1836 to father Patrick Costelloe a Farmer and mother Mary Henchy. I do not know whether James went to Australia with his parents or went alone. He married an Irish girl named Catherine RING in Sydney at aged 22 years on the 15th Sept 1858. he puts his occupation as a Quarryman. I would be most grateful if anyone can help me with any info that might throw some light on this family. Many thanks Rod McDonald Sunshine Coast Qld Aust

    3. Hello, Rod, I happen to be the first to start typing a reply, but others on the list send a similar message to newcomers. Your first step can be consulting what is online at the Clare county library website, for which the search page link is http://www.clarelibrary.ie/search.html The home page/front door is http://www.clarelibrary.ie/ Then, after seeing the various placenames and jurisdictions involved, you can expand your knowledge with either of the below tried-and-true guides: Irish records : sources for family and local history Ryan, James G.
